Hello, my name is Galuh Bekti Romadhon, here I will bring you news about floods in five sub-districts.

Five sub-districts in Asahan were flooded, hundreds of hectares of rice fields were also flooded

High-intensity rain over a long period of time poured down the Asahan Regency, North Sumatra, for three days. As a result, five sub-districts in Asahan were flooded.

Five sub-districts in the area were reported to be flooded with the height of the water varying between ten and fifty cm. In fact, the impact also submerged hundreds of hectares of rice fields belonging to residents.

"Reports in five sub-districts from last night, although today they have gradually receded. There are (sub-districts) Meranti, Teluk Dalam, Simpang Empat, Aek Ledong and Setia Janji," said Head of BPBD Asahan, Hary Naldo Tambunan, Wednesday (six September two thousand three).

Specifically in Meranti District, four villages which have quite a lot of rice fields were also reported to have been flooded. Currently BPBD Asahan is still validating data on the impact of flooding, both on residents' houses that were inundated and the rice fields that were affected.

"Meranti sub-district has four villages that frequently flood, many of which have rice fields. Approximately one hundred hectares of rice fields there are estimated to be affected," he said.

It was stated that the worst flooding was in Simpang Empat District because there was an overflow of water from the embankment which could not withstand the flow of water from the tributaries of the Silau and Asahan rivers.

"The fourth intersection is likely to remain intact and is expected to rise. There has been anticipation and appeals from residents there. This afternoon tents were also prepared for people who want to evacuate," he explained.

Thank you, see you again
